Crossing from Iran into Turkey, Sawaki reaches Istanbul, then Greece and onward through Italy, Spain and Portugal—dealing with dwindling cash and a stolen passport as the journey closes in on its end.

A young travel writer wagers with friends and sets off with only maps—beginning a bus-only journey from Delhi toward London, swept up in Asia’s heat and change.

Back in India, Sawaki reaches Varanasi and returns to Delhi, then begins the long bus journey west. A chance companion and a mistaken-arrest scare in Pakistan derail him.

Jack Oakes, the playboy son of a railroad president, is disowned by his father, and takes a job in the railroads yards under an assumed name.

At a train station, passengers await to board an old time steam engine for what seems to be an exciting weekend trip to an exotic theme park. When the train arrives, The Engineer gives them some last minute instructions to prepare them for the journey. The Engineer seems pretty cool until he casually mentions that once the train takes off, they wont remember him; the passengers board the train thinking that The Engineer is a bit weird. The passengers settle down and they begin to fall asleep in their compartments. But- When they awake, they are infants. The train ride is a trip through life as the passengers grow from children to teens to married couples and eventually to old age and death. The Engineer never leaves them and is always there to help or kick some sense into them. Still, the passengers do not see him until they pass into death and find themselves ready for the next great adventure.

The film is set in Europe and depicts the love between a Japanese photographer and a princess from one of the European countries.

Despite its Afro-American origins, the history of disco music, the soundtrack of the seventies, would be inconceivable without a handful of legendary European music producers who conjured up some of the biggest world-wide hits in the anonymity of their studios.
